Synopsis
Apatosaurus is a large, lumbering sauropod and one of the largest on the island. However, it is by far no means just a lumbering behemoth. For its size, the sauropod is surprisingly fast, and it has multiple methods of offense. While it has standard tail swings for dealing with flanking attackers and can deliver crushing stomps to anything under its feet, Apatosaurus comes is also known for utilizing the long reach of its neck to bite down on distant targets or those trying to flee, granting it a wide range of flexibility for a combat mount or harvester.

Notes/Trivia
- Apatosaurus means "Deceptive Lizard".
- Apatosaurus is part of the family of sauropods called Diplodocids, which are known for their light build and whip-like tails. Diplodocus and Brontosaurus, who is Apatosaurus's closest relative, are also diplodocids. Apatosaurus, as well as Brontosaurus, are known to be heavily built for diplodocids, being the same size as Diplodocus despite it being 30% shorter, perhaps that also explain why Apatosaurus is fast for its size, since Diplodocus in ARK is pretty fast, faster than tamed raptor.
- Apatosaurus is meant to function as the "assault sauropod"
- Apatosaurus was originally added to the JPE Rebalance Expansion of Additional Creatures 2: Wild ARK. It was planned to eventually receive a TLC with its own distinct design, but this was scrapped, and the Apatosaurus was planned to be removed entirely with the JPE Rebalance expansion's cancellation. However, it has since received a TLC with a new model and animations, originating from Jagged Fang Designs. It is now able to be passively tamed, along with having its attacks slightly tweaked, along with the addition of a sit and back stomp attack.
