Saltwater Crocodiles are reptiles in Additional Creatures.

Synopsis

One of the more resilient survivors of the ARK's waterways, the Saltwater Crocodiles seem to have grown in size in order to stand up to the rest of the ARK's larger fauna. However, It also appears they may have had genetic influence put into them from their cousins. While all crocodilians are surprisingly quick, the ARK's species is capable of galloping in a manner similar to Cuban and Freshwater Crocodiles, granting it surprising terrestrial mobility. If the sight of an oversized crocodile galloping at you isn't a horrifying enough prospect, it's no better in water. These crocodiles seem to have gained an ability to boost themselves forwards at alarming speed while spinning, ramming into targets or using it as a method of escape. One may think then if they cannot outrun a Saltie, combating one on land is best. While true, only a fool would let their guard down around this species. These crocs are clever, and have a deadly trick up their sleeve for terrestrial combat. A sudden blow with their tails, swinging it around quickly with the surprising speed crocodilians are known for. Yet this species takes it a step further. If timed just right, they can slam their tails into the enemy's incoming attacks to parry them and stun the target. If successful, the crocodile will capitalize by delivering a powerful, savage blow while the enemy's guard is down! For both their overall utility and difficult-to-master counter, Saltwater Crocodiles are a highly valued mid-sized mount. For those tactical types who can catch on to their Crocodile's skills, they can work together to pull a sudden surprise card against most combat-heavy foes on the ark, bringing a bit of skill and tactics to confrontation that can blindside a target and turn the tide in your favor!

This particular attack has a parry mechanic. Following an extremely narrow window (starting 0.412 seconds, or 12.48 frames, into the attack), if timed to hit alongside an enemy's attack, the attack will be parried. This has the following effects:

  • The target receives trike-styled stun (cripple) on successful parry
  • The Saltwater Crocodile receives a buff that causes the bite attack to do 7.5x damage for that instance.
  • Attack parried will only do half damage.
  • Parried attack is reflected similarly to kentrosaurus on impact, dealing the exact same damagetype as the parried attack, and will inflict half the parried attack's original damage back to the enemy.
  • Attack cooldown is decreased dramatically (10s from 30s).
  • The followup bite will inflict a bleed.

Example: A Pack Alpha Allosaurus' bleed attack is parried. The attack initially deals 100 damage each hit. The Saltwater Crocodile takes 50 damage instead of 100 and reflects 50 damage in that exact same instant back to the allosaurus. That 50 damage it inflicts back to the Allosaurus will bleed the Allosaurus, as the allosaurus was using its bleeding attack. In the same instant the reflect damage is dealt, the target is given a trike-styled stun.

Spacebar (Water) - Deathroll Boost

52 Base Damage - Boosts the saltwater crocodile forward at the cost of high stamina

The Saltwater Crocodile can be told to sit via the radial wheel. This will cause increased health regeneration and decreased food drain.
